PITTSBURGH — The Wings & Wildlife Art Show and Marketplace returns to the National Aviary Nov. 7 and 8.
After a 10-year hiatus, this two-day juried show and marketplace will showcase original paintings by Pittsburgh artist Johno Pascak and the work of 46 wildlife artists working in paint, photography, textiles, jewelry, metal, ceramics, paper and wood.
Pascak's original enamel and sand painting titled “National Aviary,” unveiled earlier this year, features many of the aviary's most iconic and popular birds.Wings and Wildlife had been an annual event for more than 20 years, drawing thousands of visitors each year.This year's Wings & Wildlife Art Show will run from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Nov. 7 and 8, and is included in the price of admission, which is $14 for adults, $13 for senior citizens, and $12 for children ages 2 to 12.An opening Black Tie Soirée and Benefit Auction will be Nov. 6. Opening today is an exhibit on snowy owls.Male snowy owls named Tundra and Glacier will move to the exhibit currently occupied by a pair of Bateleur Eagles, which are native to Africa and will be moved to an off-exhibit indoor space during the fall and winter months.A third snowy owl, Fleury, will be flying in the aviary's indoor free-flight bird show, the Wings in Winter Holiday Show, a musical that opens Nov. 11.The aviary, 700 Arch St., is regularly open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily.
