SLIPPERY ROCK — Internationally recognized a cappella group Vocaldente performs at 7:30 p.m. March 24 at Slippery Rock University.
The German-based quintet has won numerous competitions, including the 2008 Harmony Sweepstakes A Cappella Festival San Francisco, the world’s largest a cappella competition. Vocaldente is the first foreign-speaking group to win it.
Vocaldente doesn’t rely on microphones, amplifiers or special effects.
The group consists of Benjamin Boresch, countertenor; Tobias Kiel, tenor; Jakob Buch, tenor; Alexander Nolte, baritone; and Tobias Pasternack, bass.
The performances include selections from the Roaring ’20s through modern pop hits.
The quintet annually performs more than 100 concerts in Europe, the U.S. and Asia.
Ensemble members will be speak with ticket holders from 6:30 to 7 p.m. on the second floor of the University Union in Room 205. They will talk briefly about a cappella in Germany, what it’s like to be “on tour” and will answer questions. Plan to be seated before 6:30 p.m. for this event.
