Bird watchers will gather March 19 to observe species passing through Moraine State Park on their way north to their summer nesting grounds. The group will meet at 10 a.m. on old Route 422, across from the regional DCNR office and will travel around the park. Call 724-256-0674.

Succop Nature Park, 185 W. Airport Road, Penn Township, hosts free birding and nature hikes with a naturalist at 9 a.m. Thursdays. Trails are open from dawn to dusk. Call 412-963-6100 or visit www.aswp.org.

Jennings Environmental Education Center, Route 528, Brady Township, will host a program on maple sugaring at 2 p.m. March 20; no registration is required. Call 724-794-6011.

Moraine State Park, Muddy Creek Township, hosts a Winter Weeds Walk from 1 to 2:30 p.m. March 26 from the Sunken Garden Trailhead on the South Shore. A Birds after School program is planned for 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. March 30 from Pleasant Valley Beach on the South Shore. A “Growing Up WILD” teacher workshop will be from 9 a.m. to noon April 9 at the Outdoor Center on the North Shore; the workshop is free but advanced registration is required by e-mailing moraineenvedsp@pa.gov or calling 724-368-8811.
