On with the Show
With more than 300 entries, the Butler Art Center’s annual High School Art Show will have its reception from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday.
Refreshments will be served and musical entertainment will be provided by the Harmony Hot Haus Band.
The exhibit will continue through March 25.
The show is being judged by students from the Slippery Rock art department and the SRU Art Society.
Art Society Merit Awards totaling $200, will to be split into four $50 cash prizes designated for distinguished artist participants.
Underground Gallery
The Art Center’s Underground Gallery will present part of the Spring Showcase in a shadow cast of “The Breakfast Club” Saturday as well as March 25. Admission is $5.
The shadow cast, in which performers act out the movie while the film plays in the background, will be presented by the Underground Theatre Group.
Live bands will perform before the show, which begins at 8 p.m. Doors open at 5 p.m. both nights, with the bands playing at 6 p.m.
Bands on Saturday will include Can’t Help It, Jerry and the Black Treys, and Down They Fall. Performers on March 25 will include 52hz, Jerry Fels and Chris Scott.
The Butler Art Center at 344 S. Main St. has new gallery hours of noon to 4 p.m. Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays and noon to 6 p.m. Fridays.
