Pgh. Youth Chorus expands to Grove City
Pittsburgh Youth Chorus is expanding to the Grove City region to form a new satellite youth choir program.
Offered in collaboration with Grove City College, the new youth chorus will rehearse weekly on Wednesday evenings beginning in September.
Auditions for children entering third through fifth grades in the fall will be from 6 to 8 p.m. June 1 in the GCC music building.
Young singers in the new satellite choir will have the opportunity to sing, learn, and perform in a noncompetitive, educational program under the leadership of Amy Kegel, a music educator in the North Allegheny School District since 1990. The chorus will be accompanied by Rebecca Sopher, a music educator from the Slippery Rock School District.
The satellite program at GCC will officially begin with a half-day, one-week camp program called Summer Singers from June 27 through July 1, open to all children ages 7 to 11.
