SLIPPERY ROCK TWP — A blood drive and bone marrow screening will be from noon to 5 p.m. Sunday in the community room of the Slippery Rock Township Building, 155 Branchton Road.
The screening is for Keith Hyatt, who was recently diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia in which normal bone marrow is replaced with leukemic cells. The blood drive will help replenish the community blood supply Hyatt is using.
The event will feature food, music, games and auctions.

Red Cross to teach lifeguardsRegistration is under way at the Butler County Parks and Recreation office in Alameda Park for the American Red Cross Lifeguard Training course.The course includes CPR for professional rescuers, first aid and lifeguarding. Recertifications also can be completed.Classes will be during evenings and weekend days from May 16 to May 24. Class size is limited, so early registration is requested.
