CLARION — Union senior running back Dugan Gallagher has been named d9sports.com Football Player of the Week for his efforts against Moniteau.

Gallagher had 27 carries for a career-high 235 yards, returned an interception for a touchdown, picked off another pass, had eight tackles and caused a fumble in the Golden Knights' 34-12 victory.

ERIE — Butler graduate and Penn State Behrend senior women's soccer goalkeeper Taylor Troyan has been named Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference Defensive Player of the Week.

Troyan collected two wins in goal and made 13 saves, including seven in the AMCC championship game. She posted a shutout in the semifinals.

SLIPPERY ROCK — Four members of the Slippery Rock University men's soccer team have gained All-PSAC recognition.

Senior defender Ryan Boylan and senior forward Ryan Lutke made first team. Lutke scored 18 goals this season.

Junior Matt Sangermanop (seven goals) and senior Peter Boylan (five goals, 17 points) made second team.

SRU won the PSAC title this season and finished with a 14-6 record.

[naviga:h3]NFL suspends Randle 4 games[/naviga:h3]

IRVING, Texas — Running back Joseph Randle was suspended four games by the NFL under the league's personal conduct policy, one week after he was released by the Dallas Cowboys.

The suspension begins immediately even though Randle is not on an active roster.

Randle was already away from the team to deal with unspecified personal issues when he was released by the Cowboys last Tuesday. As a third-year player in Dallas, Randle started the first six games this season.

[naviga:h3]Cardinals’ Lynn out for 2016 season[/naviga:h3]

ST. LOUIS — Cardinals right-hander Lance Lynn has had Tommy John surgery and will be sidelined all of next season.

St. Louis said the 28-year-old Lynn had the surprise surgery Tuesday. The operation repaired a torn ulnar collateral ligament while having bone chips removed.
