TURTLE CREEK — A man was fatally shot in his home where his five children were at the time.

Authorities said it happened around 3 p.m. Monday when two men visited 32-year-old Jerit Love's Wilkins Township home. Police say Love was shot by one of the men in his basement and was able to make it upstairs to tell the children to call police. He died in the front doorway.

None of the children, age 8 to 14, were injured. The suspects fled after the shooting.

Hammerstein museum bid failsDOYLESTOWN — The grandson of Oscar Hammerstein has lost his bid to create a museum and educational theater honoring the Broadway lyricist.Doylestown Township's zoning board voted Monday night to deny variances that Will Hammerstein needed to build the project at his grandfather's former farm. The plan included a 400-seat theater.Neighbors and officials had opposed the plan saying they didn't want to deal with the noise or traffic they feared it would bring. The farm was Oscar Hammerstein's primary residence during his musical partnership with Richard Rodgers.
