The Slippery Rock University baseball team managed just five hits in a 9-2 loss to Shippensburg in the first round of the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Tournament Wednesday morning at Point Stadium in Johnstown.
Shippensburg jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning, but The Rock closed to 3-1 in the third inning on a sacrifice fly by Mitchell Wood that brought home Joe Campagna, who led off the frame with a triple.
But the wheels came off in the fifth when the Raiders extended a 4-1 lead to 7-1.
