Allentown mayor: I'm cooperating

ALLENTOWN — The mayor of an eastern Pennsylvania city says he’s cooperating with federal investigators who questioned him and seized documents last week as part of a grand jury investigation,

But Allentown mayor Ed Pawlowski echoes the city solicitor in saying he can’t provide any details.

He told The Morning Call at a street festival Saturday he’s “just focused on being mayor and celebrating the Fourth of July.”

City solicitor Susan Ellis Wild said FBI agents spent several hours Thursday executing a search warrant and collected records dating as far back as 2005 from several offices. She said they also talked to the mayor and city managing director.

City spokesman Mike Moore said in a statement that officials believe “the city’s contracting process is under review.”
