He enjoyed telling “Elmer Stories” and his Scouts had several canoe trips on the Allegheny River from New York to Pittsburgh in the late ’70s.

He managed the Schenley Marina for many years, he monitored the river high waters at Schenley, sometimes sitting next to the river for hours. He enjoyed all outdoor activities, canoeing, boating, water skiing, wakeboarding, camping, hiking, shooting and playing cards. In his earlier years, he enjoyed sports cars and road rallies. Don was an animal lover, having many beloved dogs through the years, he loved them, his family and his treasured friends. He enjoyed IC Light, Jack Daniel’s, black coffee and especially ice cream.
