Moniteau board notes district, student achievements
CHERRY TWP — The Moniteau School District has been named a 2024 Child Hunger Hero by the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank.
Board president Michael Panza announced the award at a meeting Monday, Oct. 28.
The Child Hunger Hero program recognizes schools and community partners for exceptional contributions to children’s food security in the food bank’s 11-county service area. Carrie Plecher is the district’s food and nutrition services director.
Moniteau was the only Butler County district to be recognized, winning a bronze award.
The board also recognized:
- Moniteau Warriors Youth Football Junior Division for a perfect season (10-0) and winning the division super bowl 18-12 in overtime.
- Cross country athletes named to all-conference teams: Peyton Beck, Allen Matz, Baylen Rock, Brinn Kirschner and Alexis Kirschner. Kirschner and Beck qualified for state championships.
- Top finishers at the Junior High Cross Country Championships: Morgan Mackalica, who placed first, and Logan Diaz, who placed second.
The district will hold a public meeting at 3:15 p.m. Nov. 12 in the high school library to discuss its next comprehensive plan.
Required by the Pennsylvania Department of Education, the three-year plan will measure progress and set goals for continuous improvement of leadership, teaching and learning, according to the DOE. Moniteau’s existing plan expires in 2025.
