Purse fundraiser benefits elderly

MARS — The LIFE Programs in Armstrong, Beaver, Butler and Lawrence counties will have their second annual LIFE Programs Purse Bash at 11 a.m. March 7 at the Mars VFW, 331 Mars-Valencia Road.

Proceeds will support the Living Independence for the Elderly Blessings Program, which benefits more than 500 seniors enrolled in LIFE Programs.

Baby sitters training scheduled

The Butler County Parks and Recreation Department will offer the Safe Sitter baby sitter’s training at three times and locations:

9 a.m. to 4 p.m. March 14, Karns City Borough Building, 116 Main St., Karns City

9 a.m. to 4 p.m. April 25, Slippery Rock Park Building, 320 N. Main St., Slippery Rock

9 a.m. to 4 p.m. May 2, Adams Township Municipal Building, 690 Valencia Road, Mars.

The class is for children ages 11 to 15 and will emphasize prevention, safety, responsibility, leadership and professionalism.

Registration is required. The cost will include books and materials. Successful students will receive a course certificate.
