Wheelchair user critically injured in fire
PITTSBURGH — Authorities say a man in a wheelchair was critically injured in a fire in a home.
The Pittsburgh public safety department said the alarm sent paramedics, firefighters and police to a home in the Beltzhoover neighborhood shortly after 3 p.m. Monday.
Officials said the only additional information provided to emergency crews was that “a beeping sound, similar to a fire alarm, could be heard in the background.”
Police said the emergency responders found a male resident on fire in a wheelchair in the kitchen near the stove.
