Rae N. Weitzel

Rae N. Weitzel, 86, of Butler passed away Thursday at Rochester Manor in Rochester, Beaver County.

He was born Sept. 26, 1924, in Butler, the son of the late Harland Brice and Hazel (Raisley) Weitzel.

Rae was a member of St. John’s Reformed Church in Meridian.

He worked for the United Telephone Co. as a field engineer for 21 years.

He was a member of the Tanglewood Center, the Butler Shrine Lodge 272, the Syria Temple, the Scottish Rite of New Castle, Butler Caravan 14, the Butler Luncheon Club and the Acacia Club.

Rae enjoyed his time with his daughter and grandchildren.

Surviving are his daughter, Mrs. Leslie (Vivian) Leonberg of Rochester; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

He also was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth E. (Barnett) Weitzel, who died Sept. 7, 1998; two sisters, and a brother.

WEITZEL — Friends of Rae N. Weitzel, who died Thursday, April 14, 2011, will be received at Young Funeral Home, 127 W. Jefferson St., Butler, Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at St. John’s Reformed Church, 493 Evans City Road, Butler, PA 16001, with his pastor, the Rev. Robert Peterson, officiating. Interment will be in Butler County Memorial Park.

Masonic services by Lodge 272 will be Sunday at 6:45 p.m. at the funeral home.
