PITTSBURGH — An 18-year-old Pittsburgh man with severe autism has been found about 18 hours after he went missing.

Searchers found Vance Meinhart-McBurney at the residence of someone who knows him about 6 a.m. today.

He was reported missing before 1 p.m. Sunday.

Police began searching Frick Park because the missing man was known to visit the Nine Mile Run and Duck Hollow areas of the park.

Residents had been asked to search their garages and vehicles for the man, in case he took refuge for warmth overnight.

Police were concerned for his welfare, saying he has the mental capacity of a 6-year-old.

PITTSBURGH — Authorities say an elderly man died in a head-on collision after driving down the wrong side of a Pittsburgh road.

Officials said 81-year-old Perry Kastanias of Millvale crossed the 40th Street Bridge shortly before 10 a.m. Saturday and turned left into the outbound lane of Route 28 against the flow of traffic.

Police said his vehicle struck one vehicle and then collided with a second, leaving two drivers trapped in their vehicles.

The Allegheny County medical examiner’s office said Kastanias was pronounced dead shortly after 12:30 p.m. Saturday at Allegheny General Hospital.

Public safety department spokesman Sonya Toler said the driver of one of the other cars was taken to UPMC Presbyterian, where a condition report wasn’t available.
