MCKEES ROCKS — Police say they believe a man who died from a head injury over the weekend was likely the victim of a hit-and-run crash.

The Allegheny County Medical Examiner’s Office says an autopsy conducted Sunday afternoon indicated that Nikkolas Poliak, 23, died of blunt force trauma to the head. Officials are still investigating the McKees Rocks man’s manner of death.

Officials say Poliak was found around 7:45 p.m. Saturday in front of an apartment building where he had been staying. He was taken to a hospital, where he later died.

JEANNETTE — Authorities allege that a schoolteacher had sex with a 16-year-old student in her English classroom on multiple occasions.

Maria Chappell, 38, of Mount Pleasant Township is also accused of renting a hotel room where she and the male student spent the day in February.

Superintendent Matthew Hutcheson of the Jeanette City School District said Chappell had been “removed” from her high school teaching position.

Chappell was arraigned Friday in Westmoreland County on charges of having sexual contact with a student, corruption of minors and unlawful contact with a minor.
