Ethel M. Jewart

Ethel M. Jewart, 93, of Chicora, passed away on Friday at Butler Memorial Hospital.

She was born Feb. 29, 1928, in Buena Vista, Pa., and was the daughter of the late Leroy C. Ellenberger and Olive (Goldinger) Ellenberger.

Mrs. Jewart was a member of North Butler Presbyterian Church.

She worked in the food service department in the Butler Area School District.

Mrs. Jewart enjoyed sewing, crafts, gardening and spending time with her family. She also loved to travel; she and her late husband owned a motor home and traveled extensively all over the United States.

Mrs. Jewart is survived by three sons, John Jewart and his wife, MaryAnne, of Nokesville, Va., David Jewart of Butler, and James Jewart of Chicora; two daughters, Deborah Markiw and her husband, Michael II, of West Sunbury, and Sherri McCarty and her husband, Scott, of Ellwood City; 11 grandchildren, Michael Markiw III and his wife, Kimberly, Megan Markiw and her husband, Samuel Mason, Charles Jewart, Beatrice Jewart, Lindsey Jewart, Tristian Jewart Clark and her husband, Brad, Jared Jewart, Lauren Jewart, Sarah McCarty, Kevin McCarty and his wife, Amanda, and Colleen McCarty; eight great-grandchildren, Melanie, Natalie, AmyAnne, Lillian, Thomas, Carter, Kallie and Tanner; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Ross Jewart, whom she married on Feb. 23, 1950, and who passed away on Aug. 8, 2003; and her sisters, Lola Ellenberger, Gladys Masino, Margaret Crawley and Jeannette Garing.

JEWART — Friends of Ethel M. Jewart, who died Friday, July 23, 2021, will be received from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday, July 25, 2021, at Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, 124 E. North St., Butler.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home with Pastor Floyd H. Barnhart officiating.

Burial will take place in the North Butler Presbyterian Church Cemetery.

As a request made by the family, face masks are required for the visitation and the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to North Butler Presbyterian Church, 137 North Butler Church Road, Chicora, PA 16025.
