Lois Geibel

Lois M. Geibel, 95, of Butler, passed away Thursday morning, Aug. 12, 2021, at the Good Samaritan Hospice in Cabot.

Born June 15, 1926, in Reynoldsville, Pa., she was a daughter of the late Orloe D. Heemer and Margaret Alice (Shakley) Heemer.

Lois was a homemaker, and had worked in food service for the Butler Area School District, retiring in 2000.

She was a member of All Saints Parish, St. Paul Roman Catholic Church, where she had been a eucharistic minister.

She was a member of the East Butler Fire Hall Auxiliary, was a life member of the VFW 249 Women's Auxiliary, the Women of the Moose 260, and the college of regents and star recorder at the Women of the Moose. She was a volunteer at the Butler VA Medical Center, and had been on the election board and a judge for the election board at the Terrace apartment building, until the age of 91.

Surviving are her daughter, Linda (Larry) Ellenberger of Karns City; one son, Steven D. (Kirsten) Geibel of Bremerhaven, Germany; nine grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Floyd Heemer of Butler, and Norman Heemer of Florida.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald D. Geibel, whom she married Oct. 6, 1947, and who passed away Dec. 28, 1994; her daughter, Kathy Wetick; one great- grandson; four brothers; and two sisters.

GEIBEL — Friends of Lois M. Geibel, who died Thursday, Aug. 12, 2021, will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Geibel Funeral Home, 201 E. Cunningham St., Butler.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Paul Roman Catholic Church, 128 N. McKean St., Butler.

Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery in Herman.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Butler VA Medical Center.
