In Brief

The Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission closed an Armstrong County boat access area damaged last fall in flooding associated with Hurricane Ivan.

The Freeport Access Area in Armstrong County will not be available for public use until repairs can be made.

The commission is projecting it may begin permanent repairs sometime in July, when the state's new fiscal year begins.

The access is located along First and High Streets in Freeport and provides free boating and fishing access to Buffalo Creek.

Boaters and anglers looking for alternative launch sites can visit the County Guides section at www.fish.state.pa.us.
