FAIRVIEW TWP — A Petrolia man transported by helicopter to a Pittsburgh hospital following a Sunday afternoon accident on Fairview Road later died from injuries sustained in the crash that sent the SUV he was riding in sliding over an embankment.
Pennsylvania State Police reported Sunday evening that Dennis Steighner, 57, was pronounced dead at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital.

Steighner was transported by STAT MedEvac to Pittsburgh from a staging area near the scene.
Barnes said emergency crews extricated the driver, 51-year-old Katherine Steighner, from the wreck using mechanical means. She and another female passenger, Jessica Steighner, 27, who was sitting in the backseat, were transported by Butler Ambulance Service to Butler Memorial Hospital with minor injuries.
A state police trooper at the scene said the accident was reported about 1:20 p.m. Sunday.
