ST. MARYS, Pa. — Rescue workers have removed about 400 cats from a shelter in western Pennsylvania.

The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals says it has removed the animals from an animal sanctuary in St. Marys, about 120 miles northeast of Pittsburgh.

The cats are being taken to an undisclosed emergency shelter for treatment.

The ASPCA says rescue workers removed the animals from Animal Friends of Elk and Cameron Counties on Thursday. Officials say the cats were living in overcrowded conditions on the first floor of a two-story building.

PITTSBURGH — A Pittsburgh teen is one deadeye shot — at marbles. Penelope Bauer, 13, won the girls' title Thursday at the 87th National Marbles Tournament in New Jersey.Bauer won a $2,000 scholarship and, perhaps not least of all, matched her sister Alexandra's tournament win in 2007.Her coach, Dan LaGamba, says Allegheny County has produced 37 national champs since the tournament began. That's more than any other region in the country.Bauer beat 10-year-old Bailey Narr, also of Pittsburgh, in the finals. The pair attend school together and practice against each other. Two boys from western Pennsylvania were eliminated in the semifinals.

SHANKSVILLE, Pa. — A temporary memorial set up near where Flight 93 crashed during the 2001 terror attacks will be relocated while construction is under way for a permanent memorial.The National Park Service says a new visitor area known as the Western Overlook will open July 8. The site was originally where the FBI, first responders and the media set up in the days following the crash on Sept. 11, 2001.
