PITTSBURGH — President Barack Obama has signed a bill that honors victims of the Sept. 11 attacks with congressional medals.

Obama signed the Fallen Heroes of 9/11 Act on Friday. The congressional gold medals will be given to the Flight 93 National Memorial in Pennsylvania, the National September 11 Memorial and Museum in New York and the Pentagon Memorial in Washington, D.C.

The Pennsylvania memorial honors the victims of United Airlines Flight 93, which crashed in Shanksville.

Insurer for charity argues payoutsHARRISBURG — An insurance company for the charity founded by Jerry Sandusky says it should not have to pay any future legal expenses for the former Penn State assistant football coach now accused of molesting children.Federal Insurance on Friday filed a complaint in federal court claiming it would be wrong for it to pay for any civil judgments against Sandusky because he is accused of conduct that did not involve his position as an executive of The Second Mile charity.Sandusky is charged with sexually abusing 10 boys over more than a decade. He has denied the allegations. One accuser has sued Sandusky and the charity for troubled youth.

2 women accused of taking mail, cashEBENSBURG — Police say two women took advantage of holiday generosity by stealing Christmas cards and the cash inside from mailboxes.A Johnstown newspaper reported Friday that charges are pending against the two unnamed women. A resident of the area noticed a car stopping at mailboxes and reported the license number.Police say they recovered about 100 pieces of mail and a package when they stopped the car. They’re meeting with Postal Service inspectors to determine what charges will be filed.
