SHANKSVILLE — A fire at the Flight 93 National Memorial on Friday badly burned three administrative buildings, a National Park Service spokesman said.

All employees evacuated safely, and no injuries were reported, spokesman Mike Litterst said. He did not immediately know the cause of the fire but said in a statement that initial reports indicated “extensive damage” to the complex.

The affected buildings serve as the park's headquarters and include the superintendent's office, Litterst said. The flames didn't affect the memorial or construction of the visitors center.

PITTSBURGH — The Department of Veterans Affairs on Friday recommended firing the director of the Pittsburgh VA Healthcare System for unspecified “conduct unbecoming a senior executive.”That director, Terry Gerigk Wolf, has been on paid leave since June after a VA review of a Legionnaire's disease outbreak between February 2011 and November 2012. At least six Pittsburgh VA patients died and 16 were sickened by the bacterial disease that was traced to water treatment problems at the Pittsburgh-area hospitals, which also prompted Congressional hearings.Pittsburgh VA spokesman Mark Ray said it would be “inappropriate” for the local system to comment on the departmental recommendation.“The proposed removal of the director underscores VA's commitment to hold leaders accountable and get veterans the care they need,” the VA said in a statement.The department said the removal action stems from an investigation by its Office of Accountability Review which “substantiated” the unspecified allegations against Wolf, who could not immediately be located for comment.

PITTSBURGH — The chief executive officer of a historic central Pennsylvania mansion and museum has been jailed on federal child-sex and pornography charges.Christopher G. Lee, 65, of Boalsburg, pleaded not guilty after his arrest Thursday and remained jailed after appearing before a federal magistrate.Lee heads the Boal Mansion Museum in Boalsburg, about 140 miles east of Pittsburgh.U.S. Attorney Peter Smith said the illegal acts with the minors occurred between January and June on the museum premises, where students from across the United States and other countries volunteer to work as guides.A three-page indictment contends Lee tried to coerce a 17-year-old to travel across state lines and did transport an unnamed child across state lines for illegal sexual activity.

HARRISBURG — Pennsylvania's Democratic gubernatorial candidate, Tom Wolf, is about to receive some high-powered campaign help from Hillary Clinton.Wolf's campaign said Friday the former U.S. secretary of state and former first lady will headline a “Women for Wolf” rally at the National Constitution Center in Philadelphia on Thursday.Clinton is maintaining a high national profile and is considered a potential candidate in the 2016 presidential election.
