Bertoncello

William “Bill” Walter Bertoncello, 71, a longtime resident of Butler, passed away from complications of pneumonia on Wednesday, Aug. 28, 2024.

He was born in Butler on Nov. 20, 1952, to the late Andro and Mildred (Voelker) Bertoncello. Bill graduated from Moniteau High School. He began as a worker in a greenhouse then transitioned into working in restaurants including Garden Gate and The Runway.

Bill was known for being a caring and religious person who enjoyed socializing with others. He adored his cat, Socky, whom he adopted from an animal shelter. Bill also enjoyed crafts and woodworking, entering many items in area fairs and farm shows, and participating in art and craft shows with his mother, Mildred. He was an avid gardener and operated a small greenhouse from his family home.

He was the brother of Larry and wife, Emogene Bertoncello; and uncle of Adam and wife, Kate Bertoncello, and Evan Bertoncello. He also is survived by numerous cousins and second cousins.

Along with his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his brother, Robert “Bob” Bertoncello.

BERTONCELLO — Family and friends of William “Bill” Walter Bertoncello, who died Wednesday, Aug. 28, 2024, will be received on from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday at SPENCER D. GEIBEL FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, 140 New Castle Road, Butler. A prayer service will immediately follow in the funeral home. Burial will be held privately at Northside Cemetery in Butler.
