Stobert wins Butler debut

Knoch grad pitches BlueSox past Chillicothe

In his first appearance for the Butler BlueSox, Alex Stobert didn't disappoint.

The 2016 Knoch High School graduate allowed two runs on six hits while striking out four and walking one over six innings as the Sox crushed host Chillicothe, 14-2, in Prospect League baseball play Thursday night.

The victory moves Butler (17-15) to within a half game of Chillicothe (18-15) for second place in the East Division standings.

Butler's offense, which had collected a combined eight hits in its two previous games, returned to form against the Paints. The Sox plated three runs in the first inning, four in the fifth and seven in the sixth.

Calvin Scott led the way. The No. 3 hitter went 4-for-6 to raise his average to .321. He added three runs scored and two batted in.

Tanner Murphy, Rey Gonzalez and Damian Maglione each had two hits for Butler.

Relief pitchers Bryce Spak (two innings) and Ryann Gray (one) teamed up to shut out the Paints over the final two innings.
