Slippery Rock University junior tennis standout Ashley Michaux was named PSAC West Player of the Year and Matt Meredith was named PSAC West Tennis Coach of the Year.

Michaux finished 18-3 at No. 1 singles and 12-6 at No. 1 doubles this season. She has 148 career wins and is threatening to break Jessivca Bungo's SRU career record of 177 victories.

Meredith led The Rock to a No. 4 seed in the PSAC Team Championships - its highest seed in his eight seasons at the helm. SRU was 1-12 last year before improving to 6-10 this season, its most wins since the 1996-97 campaign.

Slippery Rock University second baseman and Knoch graduate Chase Rowe, along with Rock pitcher Dan Herisko, were named first-team All-PSAC West.Third baseman Todd Schickling, catcher Brad Wilson, outfielder Mastt Kozusko and pitcher Rocky D'Angelo made the second team.

NEW YORK - Pitt offensive lineman Mark May and Don Nehlen, the winningest coach in West Virginia University history, and Penn State offensive tackle Keith Dorney are among the 11 players and two coaches to make up the 2005 College Football Hall of Fame class, which was announced Wednesday.Alabama linebacker Cornelius Bennett, Notre Dame quarterback John Huarte, Southern California tailback Anthony Davis, Michigan defensive back Tom Curtis, Ohio State end Jim Houston, Texas fullback Roosevelt Leaks, Oklahoma running back Joe Washington, Stanford defensive lineman Paul Wiggin and Illinois wide receiver David Williams and Auburn coach Pat Dye round out the the latest class.They will be inducted in December at an awards banquet in New York and enshrined at the hall in South Bend, Ind., next year.
