Tsunami aftermath
A street at Patong beach in Phuket, Thailand, is littered with damaged vehicles and debris after the area is hit by a tsunami Sunday. The most powerful earthquake in 40 years, a magnitude 9, struck deep beneath the Indian Ocean off the coast of Indonesia and sent walls of water at more than 500 mph into seaside towns in Asia and Africa, sweeping people and fishing villages out to sea. More than 21,000 people in nine countries were killed and millions left homeless.
