Several area baseball and softball players have received All-Keystone Shortway Athletic Conference honors in a balloting of the league's head coaches.In baseball, Karns City infielder Cody Zabicki and Union infielder A.J. Ethreidge attained first-team honors while pitcher Ethreidge, Union outfielder Brett Moore and A-C Valley outfielder Jesse Mangel made second team.Third-team honors went to Karns City first baseman Saxon Parker and outfielder Cody Williams, A-CValley infielder John Stumper and Union catcher Kasey Kriebel.First-team softball honors went to Karns City first baseman Haley Callihan, infielder Samantha Bly and outfielder Jessica Spafford, and Moniteau pitcher Martina Burk. A-CValley designated hitter Karly Kaufman made second team.Earning third-team honors were Moniteau infielder Brandy Neff and outfielder Megan Campbell, along with Karns City pitchers Brandi Dunkle and Ashton Pakutz.
RALEIGH, N.C. — The NCAA has granted Duke's request for an extra year of eligibility for its men's lacrosse players following rape allegations that led to the cancellation of much of last season.The decision affects 33 players who were not seniors during the 2006 season, and grants them a fifth year of eligibility regardless of whether they play at Duke.
