Charles J. Gerner

Charles J. Gerner, 84, of Coudersport, Pa., formerly of Butler and Bruin, died Wednesday at Cole Memorial Hospital in Coudersport.

Born Sept. 5, 1932, in Boyers, Pa., he was the son of Ernest and Margaret Hovis Gerner.

On Nov. 24, 1951, in Woodstock, Va., he married the former Ruth Rodgers, who survives. A graduate of Bruin High School, he was employed by West Penn Power Co. for 17 years. He owned and operated Gerner Electric and Coudersport Precast for many years.

Surviving besides his wife, Ruth, are six children, Terance (Anne) Gerner, Paul (Nancy) Gerner, Kathleen (Mark) Jackson, Richard (Diane) Gerner, Steven (Nila) Gerner and George (Debbie) Gerner; 14 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; one brother, Leroy Gerner of Butler,; two sisters, Dolores Burlett of Fair Oaks, Pa., and Loretta (Russell) Slater of Butler; and his nieces and nephews.

GERNER — Friends of Charles J. Gerner, who died Wednesday, Nov. 16, 2016, may call from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday at the Park United Methodist Church, Coudersport, Pa., with a memorial service following at 2 p.m. The Rev. Scott Ogden will officiate.
