Two Butler County high school soccer teams will be in action Saturday in PIAA quarterfinal action.

In a Class AA girls game, Mars (22-0-1) will face Forest Hills (20-1) at 1 p.m. at Indiana High School.

In Class A boys, Karns City (17-2) will battle Mercyhurst Prep (19-1) at 4 p.m. at Franklin High School.

ORLANDO, Fla. — Central Florida's athletic director and a football assistant resigned after the school was hit with more NCAA violations, this time for involvement with runners for sports agents and cash payments and gifts to recruits.Athletic director Keith Tribble and assistant football coach David Kelly stepped down after the NCAA cited UCF — which is currently on probation for previous violations — for unethical conduct amid allegations of recruiting violations in its football and basketball programs.

CARACAS, Venezuela — Professional baseball player Wilson Ramos, a catcher seen as one of the young building blocks for the Washington Nationals, was abducted by gunmen from his home in his native Venezuela.Ramos, a 24-year-old who just finished his rookie season, was taken away in an SUV by four armed men in Santa Ines in central Carabobo state, the spokeswoman for his Venezuelan League team, the Aragua Tigers, said on her official Twitter account.

ST. LOUIS — Hall of Famer Ryne Sandberg and longtime Cardinals third base coach Jose Oquendo interviewed for St. Louis' managerial opening.Both interviews took place in St. Louis, Sandberg in the morning and Oquendo in the afternoon, a person familiar with the process told The Associated Press.

CHICAGO — Texas Rangers pitching coach Mike Maddux talked with Chicago Cubs executives, becoming at least the third candidate to interview for the vacant manager's job.The Cubs have also interviewed Phillies bench coach Pete Mackanin and Brewers hitting coach Dale Sveum.
