John V. Ratcliff III, 43, of Butler, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, Aug. 4, 2024, at his residence.

He was born on July 21, 1981, in Butler, to Janine (Phipps) Harvey and the late John Ratcliff Jr.

John graduated from Butler High School in 1999 and studied pre-veterinary medicine at Otterbein College in Ohio. Most recently, John worked as an insurance agent for State Farm. He was an avid reader and was passionate about music and art. John was also a self-taught guitarist and a devoted pet parent to his beloved dogs, Remy and Soma.

John is survived by his mother, Janine Harvey; his sister, Jennifer (Rachel) Ratcliff; his stepfather, Robert Harvey; his stepsister, Jessica Harvey; his two stepbrothers, Jason and Bob Harvey; as well as by many extended family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, John Ratcliff Jr.; and his stepsister, Leanora Harvey.

RATCLIFF — A memorial service for John V. Ratcliff III, who died Sunday, Aug. 4, 2024, will be held at a later date.

Arrangements have been entrusted to THOMPSON-MILLER FUNERAL HOME, 124 E. North St., Butler.
