Mars council will reexamine budget

MARS — The borough's budget for 2021 may get another look-over and amendment.

At a borough council meeting Monday night, secretary-treasurer Bonnie Forsythe told council members that two expenses for which Mars hadn't budgeted — the hiring of an employee and proposed improvements to the water plant — necessitated the reexamination of and changes to the borough's budget.

Although council opted to not take any action with the budget Monday, it delegated council president Mike Fleming and councilman Brad Price to look into what, if any, changes should be made. They will present their findings at the next regular borough council meeting, scheduled for July 6.

Mars' June 21 council meeting is reserved for discussion of the new building at 301 Arch St.
