Hesselgesser

Robert Dale Hesselgesser Jr., 68, of Slippery Rock, passed away at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh on Tuesday, July 30, 2024, following a brief illness.

He was born in Butler on Jan. 31, 1956, to Robert Dale Hesselgesser Sr. and Elaine Maxine Youkers Hesselgesser. Robert married Pamela Joan Deal on April 2, 1977.

Bob began his career working at Coopers Brothers in Slippery Rock, later moving to Allegheny Mineral. He then moved to Grove City College working in custodial care and maintenance, and then in that same capacity, he worked at Slippery Rock University from where he retired in 2016.

Bob had a great sense of humor and a trademark “smirk” which was always at the ready. He enjoyed golfing earlier in his youth, working on the farm and was deeply knowledgeable about music. He loved family and friends. He attended the Slippery Rock Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Pamela, at home; daughter, Diana L. (Rich) McFeely of Mercer; two sons, Kevin D. (Melissa) Hesselgesser of Chicora and Douglas A. (Stephanie) Hesselgesser of Grove City; sister, Carol L. Feevey, and brother, Mark L. Hesselgesser, both of Slippery Rock; eight grandchildren, Jordynn, Mykala, Zacary and Daryan Hesselgesser, Drake, Scout and Finn McFeely and Elijah Hesselgesser; and one great-grandson, Quincy Williams.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

HESSELGESSER — Friends of Robert Dale Hesselgesser Jr., who died Tuesday, July 30, 2024, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday and from 10 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m. Saturday at SMITH FUNERAL HOME, 421 New Castle St., Slippery Rock.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with Pastor Jeffrey Lynn, of the Slippery Rock Baptist Church, presiding.

Memorial contributions may be given to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, ALSAC/St. Jude Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
