4-time convicted drunken driver found asleep at wheel in city

A four-time convicted drunken driver was arrested Wednesday after Butler police say they found him passed out at the wheel of a car in traffic, in the middle of the afternoon.

The engine was running and the vehicle was in drive, and Robert D. Jerich's foot was on the brake pedal, according to police.

Field sobriety tests would eventually indicate he was impaired, police said.

District Judge William Fullerton later arraigned Jerich, 49, of Butler on a charge of driving under the influence. He was released on nonmonetary bail but placed on pretrial supervision.

As part of his supervision, he is prohibited from consuming alcohol or drugs and he must wear a Secure Continuous Remote Alcohol Monitor bracelet.
