James Slater, 79, of Butler, passed away on Tuesday, July 2, 2024.

He was born in Butler on June 20, 1945, to the late Clarence and Lillian (Roe) Slater.

James honorably served in the U.S. Army and was employed at Armco/AK Steel.

James was widowed by the late Carol (Sack) Slater and is the beloved husband of Jane (Zavoral) Slater; father of Jim Slater Jr., Monica (Slater) Pfeiffer and Matt Slater; father-in-law of Sandy Slater and William Pfeiffer; and grandfather of Nicholas, Nathan, Wyatt, Emerson, Ethan and River.

Along with his parents, James was preceded in death by his siblings, Donald and Norma Slater.
