John Oates to perform May 25.

ZELIENOPLE — The Strand Theater Initiative has booked pop/rock icon John Oates to play a solo concert at 7:30 p.m. May 25 at the Strand Theater, 119 N. Main St.

Oates is best known as half of the hit-making duo Hall & Oates. With musical partner Daryl Hall, he scored six No. 1 U.S. singles and many other Top 10 songs from the mid-1970s to the mid-1980s, including “Sara Smile,” “She’s Gone,” “Rich Girl,” “Private Eyes” and “Out of Touch.”

In recent years, Oates has turned to Americana, a mix of soul, rock, blues, folk, country and other influences. He is on tour with a reconfigured roots-rock band and new sounds from his CD “Mississippi Mile.”
