Woman accused of card fraud
CRANBERRY TWP — A former employee of a township company is accused of using company credit cards for personal spending.
Amy S. Ferree, 38, of Shaler Township, Allegheny County, was charged in early August with three counts of felony access device fraud. She was arraigned and released on $10,000 unsecured bail.
David Chisholm, president and CEO of Satcom Digital Networks, told township police on July 1 that Ferree had been terminated after the company discovered that she allegedly used company credit cards for personal use, according to the criminal complaint.
Ferree worked for the company for about one year and had access to three different credit cards, with which she was supposed to pay the businesses bills and expenses, according to the complaint.
Chisholm told police that he began receiving phone calls from insurance and utility providers saying bills were past due.
According to credit card statements from April 2015 to June 2016, Ferree allegedly made $40,506 in fraudulent charges. Many of them were at a grocery store near her home or cash advances from ATMs.
Satcom Digital Networks, located on Leonberg Road, provides satellite broadcast services to businesses and government agencies, according to its website.
Ferree is scheduled for a preliminary hearing in district court on Sept. 30.
