Thompson

Shirley A. Thompson, 88, of Mars, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Thursday evening, July 11, 2024, at Concordia of Cabot.

Born in Evans City on Aug. 28, 1935, she was the daughter of the late Clifford D. and Mary F. Neely Huffman.

Shirley had been a rural mail carrier for the Mars Post Office for many years and was a member of the Rural Mail Carriers Association.

She was a member of LifePointe Alliance Church, where she had been active with the Alliance Women, did Bible studies, attended prayer meetings and taught Sunday school.

She was the beloved mother of Debbie Jones (Scott) and Marcia Gribble (John), both of Mars, Lorrie Korn (Drew) of Hermitage, Kim Beidl (Robert) of Corsica, Pa., and Kenneth Reed Thompson (Evie) in Mercer. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bertram John Thompson, whom she married on Feb. 21, 1955, and who died on July 24, 2016; and by her sisters, Delores Thrush and Janet Wagner.

THOMPSON — Friends of Shirley A. Thompson, who died Thursday, July 11, 2024, will be received from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday, July 14, 2024 at MCDONALD-AEBERLI FUNERAL HOME, 238 Crowe Ave., Mars.

Additional visitation will be at LifePointe Alliance Church, 997 Route 228, Mars, PA 16046, from 10 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m. Monday. The Rev. Paul Cope will officiate. Burial will be in Mars Cemetery, Adams Township.
