Icle Scott
Icle Rose Garner Scott of Winter Haven, Fla., formerly of Emlenton and Eau Claire, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, July 4, 2024.
Icle was born Aug. 28, 1921, at Byron Center, Allegheny Township, Emlenton. She was the daughter of Edward and Edna Bennett Garner, the youngest of five children. Icle attended the one-room schoolhouse at Byron Center and Emlenton High School.
She married Kenneth R. Scott on May 7, 1938. Mrs. Scott was a longtime member of the Church of God of Prophecy at Six Points. She and Kenneth helped raise money to build a new church by making and selling sausage, apple butter, quilting and monthly dinners. Icle served as clerk, treasurer and other positions for 20 years, and was the oldest living member of Six Points when she passed.
Icle worked 36 years at Emlenton-area restaurants, helping to open the Truck Plaza of Emlenton on Route 80 in 1972, and retiring after 12 years as prep cook and kitchen manager. She also worked in the kitchen at Butler Hospital and drove a school bus for Moniteau School District. After moving to Florida in 1997, Icle faithfully attended the Winter Haven Church of God. After Ken died in 2000, she lived alone and enjoyed caring for her home, yard, church, family and neighbors. She gave up mowing her own yard at age 95.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Edward and Edna Bennett Garner; husband, Kenneth Scott; son, James Raymond Scott; brothers, Claude, Lawrence and John Garner; and a sister, Faye Garner Irwin.
Survivors include daughter-in-law, Adelaide Scott of Washington, N.J.; grandsons, James, Kenneth and Ronald Scott; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
