Blind association offers cookbook
The Butler County Association for the Blind is now selling a cookbook of recipes collected from group members, family and friends.
In addition to recipes, the book features several pages of hints for cooking, cleaning and storing food in the kitchen.
The cookbooks will be sold for $10 each and are available from any association member or at the office, 322 N. McKean St.
Cookbooks can also be ordered by mail for a $3.50 shipping charge. Orders and payment can be sent to Butler County Association for the Blind, P.O. Box 468, Butler, PA 16003.
Proceeds from the sale will benefit blind association services in Butler and Armstrong Counties.

Below are a sampling of recipes from the cookbook.
3½ pounds chuck roast3 cans tomato soup concentrate1 large onion, sliced1 large clove garlic, minced2 teaspoons oregano, crushedTrim fat from meat and place in a 9-by-13-inch roasting pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour. Spoon off fat.Combine remaining ingredients and add a generous dash of pepper. Pour over meat.Cover and bake two hours more or until cooked through. Spoon off excess fat and thicken sauce, if desired.Cooking alternative: To prepare in a crock pot, use only two cans of tomato soup. Place meat in crock pot and cover with remaining ingredients. 1 package chocolate cake mix1 can (21 ounces) cherry pie filling¼ cup oil3 eggsWhipped creamCombine cake mix, pie filling, oil and eggs. Beat well with mixer until batter is smooth.Pour batter into a greased and floured 12-cup bundt pan and bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes.Cool cake in pan 25 minutes, then invert onto cooling rack to finish cooling.Decorate and serve with whipped cream and extra pie filling, if desired.<b><i>Submitted by Annette Rodgers</i></b>
