PSU student from Cranberry Twp. faces drug charges

STATE COLLEGE — A Penn State freshman from Cranberry Township was arrested Wednesday on charges of selling drugs out of his dorm room.

Austin Ross Querriera, 19, who graduated from Seneca Valley High School this year, is charged with seven counts of drug possession with intent and two counts of criminal use of a communication device, all of which are felonies. He also is charged with five misdemeanor drug violations.

In September, a confidential informant told police that someone named Austin was selling drugs in the borough. Police tracked the phone number the informant supplied and discovered it was being used by Querriera, according to a criminal complaint.

On Oct. 13, the informant and police set up a controlled drug buy with Querriera. The complaint said the informant bought seven Xanax pills and a plastic bag of marijuana wax at Querriera’s dorm room at Sproul Hall.

On Wednesday, the informant and police set up another controlled buy, this time buying 20 Xanax pills, the complaint said.

Following this, police got a search warrant and found a sandwich-sized bag of suspected marijuana weighing 27.3 grams, cash and a digital scale with suspected marijuana residue, according to the complaint.

Querriera is in the Centre County Correctional Facility on $100,000 bail. He faces a preliminary hearing Wednesday morning at the Centre County Courthouse.
