SLIPPERY ROCK — South Main Street between Franklin and Cooper streets will be closed from 8:30 a.m. to about 2 p.m. April 20.
Volunteers will be cleaning the sidewalks and street gutters between those hours.
SLIPPERY ROCK — The Slippery Rock Community Library will hold a “Teddy Bear Tea” from 3 to 5 p.m. April 21 at the Slippery Rock United Methodist Church, 130 Franklin St.The event will include portrait sittings, gift baskets and other prizes. Children can bring their favorite teddy bears in costume to be entered for a prize.Tickets are $12 for adults and $6 for children ages 3 to 12. Tickets for children younger than 3 are free with the purchase of an adult ticket.Tickets are available by calling the library at 724-738-9179; from Taggart's Jewelry at 134 S. Main St.; and from members of the Friends of the Slippery Rock Community Library.
SLIPPERY ROCK — The Slippery Rock Community Library recently received 63 new children's books from the Libri Foundation.The books were obtained as part of the foundation's Books for Children program. The library furnished $350 as part of a matching grant, and received books worth $1,053.The books will be featured at the “Teddy Bear Tea” April 21, where attendees will be able to preview the books.The Libri Foundation, founded in 1989, is a national nonprofit organization that helps rural libraries get new children's books.
SLIPPERY ROCK — Slippery Rock University's Center for Student Involvement and Leadership, in conjunction with a number of campus and off-campus organizations is again hosting the “Global Wealth Film Festival” as part of SRU's Earth Days 2013 programming.Cody Lundin, best known for his role on TV's “Dual Survival,” will join the activities.The festival runs the weeks of April 15 and 22 with most films including a guest speaker.
