SLIPPERY ROCK — Slippery Rock University women's basketball coach Tanya Longo has added four more recruits for next season.

D'Asia Chambers is a 5-foot-10 forward from Farrell and a transfer from St. Bonaventure. Jasmine Cooper is a 6-0 forward and transfer from the University of Vermont.

Erinne Cunningham is a 5-7 combination guard from Jamestown (NY) and Monroe Community College while Paris Thomas is a 5-7 point guard from Muskegon (Mich.) Community College.

Chambers averged 22.9 points per game her senior year at Farrell and has four years of eligibility. Cooper started 10 games at Vermont, played in all 28, and averaged 3.8 points and 3.6 rebounds per game.

Cunningham averaged 5.0 points and 3.0 assists per game at Monroe and Thomas netted 11 points and 5.3 rebounds per game at Muskegon, which was 22-9 and reached the NJCAA regional semifinals.

MIAMI — Bulls center Joakim Noah was fined $50,000 for directing an anti-gay slur at a fan during Game 3 of the Eastern Conference finals, and vowed to learn from the incident.The fine was “for using a derogatory and offensive term from the bench.”

STATE COLLEGE — Coach Ed DeChellis, who led Penn State to the NCAA tournament this year, resigned to take the vacant job at Navy.DeChellis' eight-year run at Penn State included the 2009 NIT title. He coached eight years for the Nittany Lions.

WEST POINT, N.Y. — Joe Steffy, who helped pave the way for Heisman trophy winners Doc Blanchard and Glenn Davis on some of Army’s best teams and won the Outland Trophy as the nation’s top lineman in 1947, has died. He was 85.
