Tad Myers

Myers

Tad Biddle Myers passed away on Thursday, June 13, 2024, in his apartment, with his beloved black cat, Lucy, by his side.

Tad was born on Oct. 30, 1942, in Steubenville, Ohio. His parents were Joseph and Virginia Myers. His precious daddy, Roger B. Goodwin, passed away when Tad was a little boy. Tad worked at the Steubenville Hospital for many years, where his grandfather, Victor Biddle, was a doctor.

In 2006, he moved to his apartment at Newhaven Court at Passavant Retirement Community, in Zelienople. His greatest joy was walking through town, eating at various restaurants and shopping at Walgreens. He was a beloved fixture in town and known by many, many people, wearing his red suspenders.

He lived at Newhaven Court for almost 18 years, longer than any other resident. His favorite activity was his beloved YAP Group on Fridays. On Sunday mornings, he was proud to always do the readings at the worship service. Each year, he looked forward to the Ellwood City Arts and Crafts Festival. He was a huge Elvis fan and enjoyed entertaining those around him with his rendition of “Hound Dog.”

He is survived by his cousins, Sandi and Jerry Rectenwald, and their family; and cousins John and Andie Brown and family. He now joins his beloved cousins, Victor and Molly Brown.

He will be deeply missed by his friends at Newhaven Court, especially Patty.

Sandi and Jerry would like to thank the amazing staff at Newhaven Court for their loving care over the years and especially his last week, and to Christine who was his personal caregiver in his last days.

MYERS — A memorial service for Tad Biddle Myers, who died Thursday, June 13, 2024, will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the social room at Newhaven Court at Passavant, 100 Burgess Drive, Zelienople.

Tad will be laid to rest next to his parents and grandparents, at the Short Creek Cemetery in the Quaker village of Mt. Pleasant, Ohio, where his great-grandfather, Ellis Hawthorne, was the town doctor.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Passavant Benevolent Care. Mail to Lutheran Senior Life Foundation, 300 W. Beaver St., Zelienople, PA 16063.

Arrangements have been entrusted to JOSEPH A. TOMON JR. FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY, Ellwood City.
