McHattie

A heart of gold stopped beating on Tuesday, June 11, 2024.

Gregory L. McHattie, 67, of Butler, passed away after a brief illness at Good Samaritan Hospice House in Wexford.

He was born Dec. 19, 1956, in New Castle, to the late Norman and Helen (Swarney) McHattie.

Gregory was a wonderful man with a heart of gold. He had a sweet smile and gentle spirit. He was a longtime volunteer for Butler Meals on Wheels and sang in the choir at All Saints Parish for 37 years. Gregory loved to walk and often was seen in his neighborhood walking his dog, Liz.

He was a man of great faith and courage. Gregory faced his illness with grace and dignity, and he never complained. He was a blessing and his memory a treasure.

Gregory was an electrician, retiring from West Penn Power.

He is survived by his loving wife, Rebecca (Brady) McHattie, whom he married on May 20, 2023; his stepson, Benjamin Watterson; his brother, Robert (Deborah) McHattie; and his nephew, Zane McHattie.

MCHATTIE — Friends of Gregory L. McHattie, who died Tuesday, June 11, 2024, will be received from noon to 2 p.m. Monday at THOMPSON-MILLER FUNERAL HOME, 124 E. North St., Butler.

A Mass of Christian burial and private committal service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at All Saints Parish, St. Paul Roman Catholic Church, 128 N. McKean St., Butler, PA 16001.

A private burial will be held at Butler County Memorial Park.
