Robert Critchlow Sr.

Robert H. Critchlow Sr., 92, passed away Tuesday, June 11, 2024, at Butler Memorial Hospital.

He was born in Cherry Township on Sept. 24, 1931, to the late Harvey G. Critchlow and Edith E. (Scott) Critchlow.

Robert was president of Critchlow Brothers Quality Builders and was a carpenter for many years. He enjoyed woodworking and working on old appliances to bring them back to life. Robert loved spending time with family, but his favorite memories were making igloos in the winter with his kids. Robert was known for his impromptu traveling, taking his family on vacations to some of his favorite places like the beach. He was an enthusiast of crossword puzzles and homemade fudge.

Robert is survived by one son, Robert Critchlow Jr. of Williamston, S.C.; four daughters, Valerie Balsiger (Tom) of Butler, Tara “Tammy” Allman (Bob) of Butler, Robin (Ron) Wolfe of Renfrew and Margie (Chuck) Becker of Renfrew; 11 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; one brother, George (Shirley) Critchlow; one sister, Louella (Dale) Weigle; one sister-in-law, Phyllis Critchlow; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by the love of his life, his wife Carmella J. (Bonetti) Critchlow, whom he married June 2, 1956, and who passed away on Jan. 14, 2024; two brothers, Paul Critchlow and an infant brother; and two sisters, Brenda Bruce and Margaret Mathers.

CRITCHLOW — A visitation for Robert H. Critchlow Sr., who died Tuesday, June 11, 2024, will be held from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday at THOMPSON-MILLER FUNERAL HOME, 124 E. North St., Butler. A funeral service will immediately follow at noon, with Pastor Gillgrist officiating. A private burial will be held at Greenlawn Burial Estates.
