Timothy Schell
Timothy M. Schell, 72, of Grove City passed away on Tuesday, June 4, 2024.
Tim was born on April 27, 1952, and was the son to William and Ruth D. (Schubert) Schell.
Tim was a graduate of Sharpsville High School in 1970. He earned a bachelor’s degree in biology from Slippery Rock University in 1974 and his physical therapy certificate from the Mayo Clinic, Rochester, Minn., in 1976.
He began his career as a physical therapist in Richmond, Ky., working for a year. In 1977, he relocated to Grove City and became the director of physical therapy at United Community Hospital, remaining there for six years.
In 1983, he opened TMS Physical Therapy in Grove City, owning and operating the practice, and later expanded the business to include clinics in Franklin, Cool Springs Township and Emlenton.
Tim served in leadership positions for the Pennsylvania Physical Therapy Association, American Physical Therapy Association, and on the Pennsylvania State Board of Physical Therapy. He was a tireless political advocate for his profession, championing legislative changes that have shaped the physical therapy industry.
Tim gave generously, supporting local charities and local athletics, preferring to donate anonymously. Over the years he was recognized with various professional and community awards and honors.
Tim served on the Mercer County Hall of Fame board of directors from 1996-2012.
He was an avid golfer, a high school quarterback, a Pittsburgh Steelers fan, and a connoisseur of gourmet food and wine.
He is survived by his sons, Benjamin and Jason Schell; a brother, James (Debra) Schell; a sister, Jean Mason Scott; and four grandchildren, Enrique, Julieta, Camila and Melissa.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, William Schell III.
SCHELL — A celebration of life service for Timothy M. Schell, who died Tuesday, June 4, 2024, will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday in CUNNINGHAM FUNERAL HOME, 306 Bessemer Ave., Grove City.
Tim’s family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
Memorial donations in Tim’s memory can be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
