Patricia Patterson of Butler has been awarded a fellowship to the Virginia Center for the Creative Arts by the Vira I. Heinz Endowment.Patterson will participate in the residency with 20 other artists at the rural Virginia center.Participants are provided with a private studio and residence to focus on their creative projects.———During a recent meeting, the

Butler PM Rotary Club presented an anonymous donation of $5,000 to the Honorable Marilyn Horan, Policy Officer of the

Butler Emergency Relief Initiative, and Leslie Osche, executive director of the United Way of Butler County, coordinating agency for the initiative.The donation was made to the Rotary Club with the request that the club in turn present it to those in need who are helped through BERI, an organization established to address concerns from community leaders and ministers to help evacuees from Hurricane Katrina migrating to Butler County.The initiative now seeks to address the needs of Butler County residents whose lives have been affected by a significant emergency.In addition to providing financial support to help pay utility bills and find housing for the displaced, Initiative has expanded its role to include the development of programs designed to address long-term solutions for families struggling to pay utility bills.———

Katie's Kitchen, recently received a donation of $500 from the Butler Rotary Foundation.The funds, raised through the Rotary's annual Turkey Roundup, will be used to purchase food for the community meals ministry.———Winners at the
