LeRoy Gerner

LeRoy E. Gerner, 89, of Titusville, formerly of Butler, passed away Monday evening, June 3, 2024, at Southwoods Assisted Living Community in Titusville.

LeRoy was born on Oct. 15, 1934, in Bruin, a son of the late Ernest and Margaret Hovis Gerner.

LeRoy had earned his teaching degree and had been employed with the Butler School District for a number of years until his retirement from there in 1993. He had also been self-employed as a barber for a number of years in Petrolia.

LeRoy was an avid outdoorsman enjoying hunting, fishing and spending summers in Alaska.

He is survived by a sister, Dolores Burlett of Beaver; a sister-in-law, Ruth Gerner of Coudersport; a brother-in-law, Russell Slater of Butler; 10 nieces and nephews; and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews, and great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Gerner; and a sister, Loretta Slater.

GERNER — Friends of LeRoy E. Gerner, who died Monday, June 3, 2024, may call from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday at GORDON B. GARRETT FUNERAL HOME, 303 N. Washington St., Titusville. Funeral services will be conducted at noon.

Interment will be in Bear Creek Cemetery.
